The drive to Pisak follows the coast road south past Omiš, where the route narrows and starts to climb along the base of the cliffs that define this whole stretch of the Makarska Riviera. What it lacks in size it makes up for in setting: the cliffs behind press close to the water, and the beach itself catches long afternoon sun with the Biokovo massif rising directly behind. There's little in the way of organised tourism infrastructure here, which is exactly the point for visitors who've chosen it over the busier resorts further south: Pisak stays quiet even in August, a stop for people who know the road rather than a destination that advertises itself. The narrow strip of flat land between road and sea means most accommodation here is small-scale and family-run, often the same family renting out rooms above their own restaurant, which gives the village a genuine, unpolished character that's increasingly rare on this coast. The road above Pisak is regarded by many regular visitors to the Makarska Riviera as one of the most photogenic short stretches of the entire coastal route, with the cliffs, sea and mountain all visible at once from a handful of well-known pull-offs, a reason some travellers choose a private transfer over self-driving specifically so they can watch the view rather than the road.

Marušići and Promajna are both a short further drive south along the same coast road, easy to combine into a single longer transfer or visit separately during a longer stay. Omiš itself, with its riverside old town and zipline attractions, sits just north and makes a natural day trip from a Pisak base. The Cetina river gorge above Omiš offers rafting and canyoning trips popular with visitors staying anywhere on this stretch of the riviera, generally booked a day or two in advance through operators based in Omiš itself. For a quieter alternative to organised activities, several small unmarked coves between Pisak and Omiš are reachable by a short scramble down from the coast road, known mostly to regular visitors rather than first-time guests. The fortress of Fortica above Omiš is also worth the climb for anyone interested in the region's history of piracy and defence against Ottoman incursions, with views back down over the river mouth that make the short hike worthwhile, best attempted in the cooler morning hours during summer.
