The town itself has grown considerably over recent decades without losing its Dalmatian core: an older stone centre a little inland from the main hotel strip, worth the short walk up from the beach. That investment has continued steadily since, with newer wellness and spa facilities added to several of the larger hotels in recent years, reflecting a shift toward longer, more comfort-focused stays rather than the simpler beach holidays the resort was originally built around.

Promajna and Marušići sit just north along the same coast road, both easy to visit or transfer to separately during a longer stay. Živogošće, quieter again, is a short further drive south for visitors wanting to see more of the riviera's southern end. Biokovo Nature Park's lower trailheads are a short drive inland from Tučepi itself, offering a genuine mountain hiking day out without needing to travel far from the beach. Makarska, with its wider choice of restaurants, shops and the passenger ferry to Sumartin, is a short drive north and makes an easy evening trip for visitors based in Tučepi. Hikers based in Tučepi for a longer stay often combine an early-morning Biokovo trail with an afternoon back on the beach, taking advantage of the cooler mountain air before the day's heat sets in at sea level, a rhythm that regular visitors to this stretch of coast tend to settle into quickly.
