Marušići continues south along the same coast road used for Pisak, the drive staying close to the water the whole way with Biokovo's grey cliffs a constant backdrop on the inland side. At 55 kilometres and about 55 minutes, it's a straightforward extension of the Omiš–Makarska stretch, long enough to watch the coastline change from Omiš's river mouth to the more open beaches further south. The road itself is well maintained along this section, with regular passing points and clear sightlines despite the tight curves the cliffside route demands, and the mountain wall on the left rarely lets up until the final approach into Marušići itself. Locals sometimes call this whole stretch of coast road the most beautiful hour of driving in Dalmatia, and it's hard to disagree once the afternoon light catches the cliffs and water at the same time, especially for visitors making the journey for the first time.

Marušići is little more than a scatter of houses around a handful of small coves, each pebble beach separated from the next by low rock outcrops that give a real sense of privacy even when neighbouring coves are in use. The village has no real centre to speak of, it exists as a loose string of accommodation and a few seasonal restaurants rather than a defined town, which suits the kind of visitor drawn here in the first place: people looking for a quiet coastal base within easy reach of Makarska's shops and nightlife without living in the middle of it. The rock outcrops that divide the coves also offer decent shore snorkelling close to land, and the clear water here, a function of the steep drop-off typical of this part of the coast, is often noticeably clearer than the busier beaches nearer Makarska itself. Many of the houses along this stretch were originally built as simple summer cottages for families from inland Croatia, gradually extended and converted into guest accommodation over the past few decades as coastal tourism grew: a common pattern along this part of the riviera that helps explain why so many small villages here feel residential first and touristic second, even in the height of summer. Locals still refer to some of the coves by informal names passed down through generations rather than anything printed on a map, part of the particular charm of staying somewhere this small.

Promajna and Tučepi are both a short further drive south, easy to visit during a longer stay or to combine into an onward transfer if you're moving accommodation partway through your trip. Makarska itself, with its full range of restaurants, shops and the passenger ferry to Sumartin on Brač, is close enough for an easy evening out. The ferry crossing to Brač is a popular half-day trip for anyone staying on this part of the riviera, and Makarska's Franciscan monastery and shell museum are worth an hour or two if the weather turns for a day. Biokovo Nature Park's main entrance road is also accessible from this stretch of coast, offering sweeping views back over the whole riviera for visitors willing to drive the switchbacks up. The park's highest points reach over 1,700 metres, making the temperature noticeably cooler than at sea level: worth bearing in mind for anyone planning a summer visit up the mountain after a morning on the beach, since conditions at altitude can differ substantially from the coast.
